RESOLUTION

 

Whereas, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority recently released its Access Oklahoma Project Plan which included turnpike roadways through Cleveland County; And Whereas, there is understandable concern about the impact of any major project to the citizens of Cleveland County including the impact to residential properties, wildlife, the watershed of Lake Thunderbird, unique geological formations and transportation; And Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners have heard the many concerns from the public about the impact and process in selecting the path of these turnpikes through Cleveland County; And Whereas, the Oklahoma Senate has adopted legislation to provide greater transparency and information regarding these turnpikes; THEREFORE, Let It Be Resolved, the Cleveland County Board of County Commissioners resolves and petitions the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) to conduct a more extensive and comprehensive due diligence phase before finalizing alignment of the OTA South Extension Turnpike. THEREFORE, Let It Be Further Resolved, that the Cleveland County Board of County Commissioners implores the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to exercise and exemplify transparency by relating to the Board of County Commissioners and the public any and all studies relating to the alignment and understanding of how the final South Extension Turnpike project plan was determined. Including but not limited to any and all environmental impact studies used in determining the alignment of any proposed turnpike roadways in Cleveland County.

 

THEREFORE, without this information, the Cleveland County Board of County Commissioners cannot, in good faith, on behalf of the public trust, condone the construction of the Access Oklahoma Project Plan that is currently proposed to occur within Cleveland County.
