How to Help Stop the Turnpike

Call or email the state representatives listed below. Ask them to allow the full House of Representatives to vote on Senate Bill 1610 (SB 1610), and then support the bill when the vote is called.

SB 1610 must be allowed to the floor for a vote by April 28th.

What to Say When You Call or Send an Email

  • Please allow SB 1610 to be heard on the floor of the House of Representatives and voted on.

  • Before homes, businesses, and land are destroyed, the drinking water of a quarter million people impacted, our property and sales tax base negatively affected, and wildlife and natural habitats of Cleveland County destructed, we need to make sure OTA has considered and shown this was the ONLY option. SB 1610 requires this.

  • Please make OTA accountable to you – the individual the citizens of Oklahoma have elected to represent us. This bill helps create some accountability to you, our elected officials and thereby, the citizens.

Tips in Making Calls and Sending Emails

  • Be extremely polite.

  • Thank them for their time and for representing you.

  • Be brief.

  • Be clear on what you want:

    • Allow SB 1610 to move to the floor and get voted on.

    • Support the bill once it is allowed to be voted on.

  • If time allows, share how you are impacted.

  • Thank them for supporting the democratic process that gives voice to citizens through their elected officials.

Note: Representative Jon Echols determines what makes it to the floor for a vote. If you can only make one call or send one email, please focus on him.
